At SURFSET® NYC, we specialize in full body workouts inspired by one of the world’s most athletic sports - surfing!
While it's not a "learn to surf class" or a replacement for surfing (which would be very challenging without actual waves or water in the room!), we bring surf inspiration into each class in a few different ways.
1. Surf Muscles & Skills - We draw from the real movements of surfing to build balance, core strength, stability, agility, aerobic conditioning, power, lean muscle and coordination. Whether you take one of our interval-based classes (Blend, Burn or Strength) or our Surf Yoga class, our trainers will take you away from the traditional static workouts and challenge your body in new ways.
2. Body Awareness & Stability - The SURFSET® Board (Rip SurferX), a 6-foot long surfboard on top of three balance balls, is designed to mimic the feeling of being on water. The instability of the board adds an extra challenge to every exercise we do. As you progress in your practice, we can adjust the board to add additional instability and build body awareness in an ever-changing environment.
3. Fun & Adventure - Our overall fitness mission is to create unique workouts that are equal parts challenging and fun! Not only will we bring the extreme physical benefits of surfing to each workout, but we will also bring the fun, adventurous spirit of a surf session to every class.
